There is no native connector for this yet. What exists is a real route through our API, webhooks and automation catalogue, and it is written out below.
What it does with ShortFreeURL
There is no Buffer connector here, and Buffer cannot call us on its own. The route that works is to create the branded link before the post is queued — from an automation step, a spreadsheet, or the dashboard — and put that short URL in the post text.
Doing it this way is not a workaround so much as the right order: you get the click data on your own domain regardless of which scheduler you use.
Setting it up
- Create an API key under Integrations → API, or connect Zapier.
- In your automation, create the link first and capture the short URL.
- Pass that URL into Buffer's post text.
What data moves
- In: link creation from your automation or by hand.
- Out: the short URL, which you paste or map into the scheduled post.
- Auth: an API key if you automate it.
Where this comes from: Our side: the REST API and the Zapier/Make catalogue. No Buffer-specific code exists.
