Telegram

Post new links and alerts into a Telegram group, channel or direct chat from your own bot.

AvailableChat

Connector available. Follow the setup guide and verify access to your provider account from the dashboard.

What it does with ShortFreeURL

Create a bot with BotFather, add it to the chat, and paste its token and the chat id here. From then on every event you tick is sent with the Bot API's sendMessage — no relay, no automation platform in the middle.

Messages come from your bot, not from us, which means the chat stays yours: revoking the token in Telegram stops the messages whatever happens on our side.

Telegram is unusually clear about refusals — "chat not found", "bot was blocked by the user" — so those sentences are passed through to you word for word rather than flattened into a status code.

Setting it up

  1. Message @BotFather in Telegram, send /newbot, and copy the token it gives you.
  2. Add the bot to the group or channel, and get the chat id — send a message and read it from https://api.telegram.org/bot<token>/getUpdates, or use @channelname for a public channel.
  3. Open Integrations → Telegram in the dashboard, paste both, and press Send test. The message arrives in the chat and the delivery is logged here.
  4. Tick which events should go out under Events.

What data moves

Where this comes from: src/services/integrations.js — the telegram provider and telegramSend(); tested in scripts/integrationtest.js.

Questions

Can I shorten a link from Telegram?

Not today. Messages go out; the bot does not listen. Slack is the only integration with a command coming back in.

Where is my bot token kept?

Encrypted at rest, and never sent back to the browser — the form shows dots and a blank box means "leave it alone".

Was this tested against Telegram itself?

The code path was tested end to end against a local server speaking the Bot API's shapes. No call has been made to Telegram from this build.
